A hundred years ago, I used a Garmin GPSMAP 76CS and was happy with it. Now I only fly with my smartphone. I’m wondering if it still makes sense to invest in specialized GPS devices when modern mobile phones have quality GPS. If I pay extra for a device with a barometer, I'll have software that can handle barometric data, so buying another device with a display doesn't seem necessary. Am I missing something? What advantages do dedicated GPS devices have over mobile apps?
