At the end of October, we set off for a fantastic flying trip to Bassano. We planned to return on November 1st, so it was a perfect opportunity to enjoy the last flying days of autumn before winter set in. Our crew included Vlada, Jirka, and Libor, all set for an unforgettable experience both in the air and on the ground.
The weather wasn’t exactly ideal – thermals were weak, so we had to really “work” to stay up in the air. A cross-country flight to the Piave River was out of reach, but we still made the most of it. Although we didn’t expect any long cross-country flights, the final flight gave Vlada and Jirka a nice experience and let them stay airborne a bit longer.
One of the highlights was flying from the peak near the monument – stunning views and calm air allowed us to try out different maneuvers, which made for excellent practice. The stable air gave us a whole new perspective on Bassano.
We celebrated the end of the trip with ice cream at a local café, which was a perfect way to wrap up our adventure. Bassano has plenty to offer even outside the flying season – our visit to the local restaurant L'Antica Abbazia was a delight. Delicious food accompanied by local beer and red wine made for an unforgettable meal.
The trip to Bassano was long, around 800 km. We drove there during the day and arrived in the evening. For the return, we drove overnight and reached home in the early morning – the drive was tiring but absolutely worth it. We’re already planning to return next year as soon as the weather permits. We hope the thermals will be stronger next time, giving us a chance to explore this beautiful area even more.
